After working as a payroll implementation systems specialist for many years I decided it was time for a career change to find a career that gave me job satisfaction. I always had an ambition to become a Driving Instructor and one day start my own driving school. I felt that with my experience of rally co-driving competing at National level in motorsport that I had something extra to offer in teaching people to drive. Through my experience I quickly found that my calm approach to teaching was gaining very high pass rates. It was the best career move I ever made as I love my job teaching new drivers and helping other ADI male and female driving instructors gain new pupils. I am proud to now run the largest independent driving school in the Swindon and surrounding areas.
James joined Julie Murphy's Driving School in 2016. He now assists in the running of the school and teaches pupils on a daily basis. He has many years of varied driving experience which he enjoys passing on to the next generation of drivers.
I qualified as an ADI Instructor through the Driving Instructor College, Bristol in 2004. I joined Bath School of Motoring for two years teaching pupils in Bath and surrounding areas. In 2006 I joined Shire School of Motoring, a Cirencester based company, before branching out on my own in 2010 together working with Julie Murphy's Driving School. I have been teaching pupils of all ages and abilities for the past 6 years and enjoy the variety that this work brings such as teaching the complete beginner to refresher courses, Pass Plus, flexible Semi Intensive, Intensive driving courses and supporting all pupils with the theory side of the test.
I've been an ADI driving instructor since 1988 so have a lot of experience teaching people from all walks of life with different nationalities and levels of ability, from the complete beginner to refresher courses including motorway lessons and pass plus, both in manual and automatic cars. I have a calm patience and relaxed manner which puts my nervous pupils at ease and leads to a very good pass rate. I love my job and get great satisfaction from helping people reach their goals and I'm delighted to be working with Julie Murphy's Driving School in my automatic car.
Before becoming a driving instructor I worked with young adults with learning difficulties and mental health for 18 years. I have a calm approach to instructing. My main aim is to have a relaxed and fun environment in the car, helping you to gain in confidence each lesson making learning to drive a pleasurable experience. I have 2 young daughters which keep me busy and young at heart! In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, mountain biking and competing in triathlons.
My name is Joe and I qualified as an instructor in 2014, fulfilling my dream of becoming a driving instructor. I offer a friendly, relaxed and professional approach to my lessons. My instructor vehicle is a new Renault Clio fitted with dual controls and a manual gearbox.
After watching my father teach for all those years and have so much fun, I decided to follow in the family line of driving instructors. I became fully qualified over 5 years ago now and I have to say it was one of the best decisions of my life ... I LOVE my job!! I feel like I'm patient and friendly and have successfully helped guide many people of all ages and abilities in getting their licence. I would like to think (as one of my primary goals) we had lots of fun in the process too. I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of an amazing team of instructors at Julie Murphy's Driving school and look forward to teaching YOU!!!

I used to be a bricklayer and wanted to find a career that gave me great job satisfaction. I am fully qualified and have been teaching for some years now. I enjoy teaching people to drive and my ultimate goal is to teach them to be good, safe drivers whilst providing an enjoyable lesson.
I spent nearly 30 years in the airline industry in various roles mainly in sales and marketing but also a considerable amount of time in training and development. All these roles involved a great deal of travelling in the air but mainly driving long distances to meetings and courses. Following a redundancy, I decided to change direction but build on the skills gained through my previous career. I enjoy working with people of all ages and abilities and have an easy-going and encouraging teaching style building pupils confidence and thinking processes. I thoroughly enjoy my new career and have benefited enormously from being trained by Julie Murphy. It also means more time to spend with my wife and 10 year old daughter.
I have lived in Wiltshire for over twenty years, being originally from Dundee in Scotland. I ended up in Wiltshire as a result of being in the Royal Logistic Corps where I was a Supply Specialist. This role involved driving all categories of HGV and of course led to an interest in driving! I served four tours of Bosnia and have driven various vehicles in challenging terrain and circumstances so I am not fazed by Wiltshire... even the Magic Roundabout! Upon leaving the army, I worked for the MOD, and the Department for Work and Pensions. I have also coached youth football and was a breakdance teacher for many years. I continue to play football for Tetbury Town FC. I am pleased to be part of Julie Murphy's Driving School and looking forward to helping folk from all walks of life pass their driving test.
"I am one of the youngest instructors in the Swindon area, however don't let that fool you, what I lack in age and experience as some other instructors in Swindon, I make up in enthusiasm and enjoyment in lessons. I don't make lessons too strict and ridged, I like to have a laugh and a giggle whilst on lessons. I have worked for RED Driving School for the past 2 years and am looking forward to working with the top Driving School in Swindon"
