Driving in wet weather
Rule 227 of the highway code refers to driving in adverse weather. Be aware when driving in wet weather as stopping distances are doubled due to the tyres having less grip.
Ensure you leave a safe distance from the vehicle in front. This will give you the ability to see and plan ahead.
If you have a loss of car control ease off the accelerator and slow down very gradually.
The rain and spray from vehicles makes it difficult to see and be seen.
Be cautious of spilt diesel and mud on the road as this makes it very slippery.
Be cautious around pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists or horse riders.
